“Pariksha pe Charcha 2024” - PM Modi’s Advice to Students

PM Narendra Modi’s initiative “Pariksha pe charcha” started 7 years ago as he came on an open platform to address young students on their approaching year 10th-12th exams. Given below are the key getaways from Pariksha pe Charcha 2024.

Held in the Bharat Mandapam; the prime minister began his speech by saying how once in the same place, leaders of multiple nations discussed the future developmental goals, and in the same place, students of Bharat had gathered to discuss their problems with the Prime Minister. Multiple teachers, parents and students had presented their doubts on a national level that were all addressed by the Honorable Prime Minister. Given below is a topic wise overview of the seminar.

TOPIC 1. DEALING WITH EXPECTATIONS

PM Modi for this reminded the students that they must know that their 10th and 12th exams are not the only way to their career. Those who believe that failing in them means failing in their career are absolutely mis-guided. The small way of exams is not the final means to paving one’s career, greater world lies beyond.

He also says that Exams are important but what is to worry about so much? Is it ones year/class’s test or is it your life’s test? Students must be prepared in their heads that these are only their Secondary and Higher Secondary School exams. After understanding and applying this they can deal with their exams with more confidence and less stress. It’s like traveling to a cold country. When you are mentally well prepared before going there knowing that you’d living in a cold weather, after getting there you might realize that it is not as cold as you thought it would be. Once you are mentally prepared, expectations don't bother your as much.

Later he also elaborated on the Types of Expectations Students face

  • Self Expectations - the expectations a student puts upon themselves like - marks, time-tables, study goals. This much is to be completed today etc.
  • Parent Expectations: Why are you still asleep? Why arent you studying? How much portion did you cover today
  • Peer and Teacher Pressure - Teachers giving homework, papers, peers asking did you cover this and this? Such Expectations create three types of students
  • Those who take those comments sincerely and improve
  • Those who remain unbothered
  • Those who take unwanted stress and pressure

He concluded by saying, that any person must make themselves ready to face pressure as life shall bring more such to them.

TOPIC 2 : COMPETING WITH FRIENDS

In this context it was said that competition makes us better. But why compete with ones friend why take it as competition? Now consider that your friend took 100 mark test and they scored 90 out of it. So do you have only the left 10 marks to score from or do you have another hundred marks score from the second right? no, if you have 100 to score from then white compete with your friend, the friend who scored 90 should be your inspiration. With a me competitive mentality, you would never be friends with a person smarter than yourself finding smart highr achieving friends even increases your own spirits.

The PM also pointed out that parents too are at fault here, pointing out that doubting nature to compare their children to their peers. Constantly praising their children creates a “I am the best mentality” learning from friends is an equal virtue.

Next he pointed out the importance of meaningful friendships saying how friends who scored less celebrate for the ones who scored well and the ones who did score well wouldn’t celebrate as their best friend, didn’t do as good.

TOPIC 3: HOW CAN TEACHERS HELP STUDENTS SO THAT THEY DON’T TAKE UNNECESSARY STRESS

Speaking on this PM addressed that Music teachers and music can end the entire school’s stress. He also pointed out that students are not connected to their teachers on a deeper level. A teacher's role is greater than a job, they are here to mentor a life, hence it is important that they connect to the students on a more individual level.

TOPIC 4: EXAM HALL STRESS

Giving students a new uniform, polished new shoes. Making them eat too much before the exam creates uneasiness. Students in the exam hall are distracted by the CCTV, teachers, the slightest noise. It was advised that they pay attention to writing. PM Modi emphasized on the importance of practicing writing their papers well in advance.

TOPIC 5: EXERCISING AND STUDYING

On this PM Modi mentioned that students are highly advised to not shut their doors and windows and simply study. It is important to sit in the sun and recharging oneself. Sleeping properly and dedicating 5-10 minutes of physical activity and exercise.

TOPIC 6 : CAREER SELECTION EXPECTATIONS

Here, the PMO mentioned that the students are not self-aware. They adapt to the ideas of the people who inspire them, or select the easier way out. They are in a worse state of confusion. Highlighting the benefits of the NEP, it was explained how it helps students get deeper clarity on subjects.

The Pariskha pe Charcha by PM Modi was thus ended after providing the students with greater insights on dealing well with their board exams.
