Understanding Early Action, early decision Applications UG for USA

With Early Action (EA), a student can apply to several universities with an early deadline for applications and decisions, without any commitment to accept offers early. But there's a couple of colleges that provide restricted access or one choice early education. This means that if students choose the Restricted Early Action Option, they will not be able to make applications for admission to a further college before it is too late. Although, there is no obligation to enroll if they get an offer. Princeton, Yale, Harvard and Stanford are some institutions that follow this route of application.

The advantages of early applications are as listed below

Early applications demonstrate the enthusiasm of the applicant towards the particular college, creating a value for demonstrated interest.

By receiving early decisions, students get more time to plan and apply for scholarships.

Students tend to apply to a lesser number of colleges. If not all, many colleges accept EA and ED than the RD increasing the chances of getting an offer.

If the student is not accepted, they can still apply through RD.

Although, some disadvantages of EA and ED may be as follows,

  1. Students have lesser time to make final decisions.
  2. They have to accept the financial aid they receive, they cannot compare it to multiple other colleges.
  3. In certain cases, early place may lead to drop in their present academic performance.
