“Books to Laptops” - The transition from University to the real World

The transition from the university to the real world can be strange; exciting and exhausting. Making the decisions on applying for the first job, completing your interviews and starting to work. The growth and independence gained in a university is incomparable. From doing a part-time job, hanging out with friends, doing all nighters to complete assignments all drift into nostalgia. Students may be heading home after completing their overseas education, moving to a different city, hunting for jobs or enjoying a few moments before their “corporate slavery” begins. While their study years at the university have them more than prepared for their career ahead, the mind can still be full of questions.

Before beginning a new year at a university, students still have the confidence of meet like-minded freshmen and make new friends. The thought running into their minds on the first day of work is “what if i receive work less than my caliber or what if they are greater?”; “How will I befriend my seniors?” University to career transition brings all kinds of questions into a person's mind.

In a work setting, it is important to branch out and make friends. Working alone can become monotonous and boring. Sitting for 8 hours doing work can seem tiring.

Also no friends to walk home from the university’s connectivity. But change always comes for the better, with its own challenges and learnings.

The feeling of going to school on the first day after a summer break, being transferred to a new division, the first day of college, and the first day of work are all equally overwhelming, but as you begin to feel under-confident of yourself, remember the feeling of the first day of college and then the graduation ceremony. The feeling of nostalgia, all the memories, all the learning and everything that follows. First days can often be hard, but remember, it's only here to make you better. Graduating into the real world brings with it a lot of confusion. So don't think too much; don't struggle with the decision of getting the right job, there is always time and there is always a route, good or bad, it's here to teach. Adjusting into Life after university is full of opportunities for learning and fun, only depending upon how you deal with it.
