Education vs. Employment: Why many graduates struggle to hire work

A college degree no longer guarantees the job. Thousands of graduates struggle to find employment as the education system fails to match the demands of the industry. The difference between theoretical learning and practical skills is one of the biggest challenges. Universities focus on textbooks and examinations, while companies require problems-solution, important thinking and experience on hands. Fields such as IT, finance, and marketing now prefer skills on degrees, in favor of certificates, internships and real -world projects.

Another issue lacks soft skills. Employers seek communication, teamwork and adaptability, yet these skills are rarely taught in classrooms.

To bridge this difference, students should take initiative by taking admission in internships, online courses and networking events. Platforms such as LinkedIn, Korsera and Udemi help students develop industry-driven skills.

Universities also need to collaborate with industries, update the course based on market needs and provide more skill-based training.

The future of employment depends on a change from degree-based hiring to skill-based hiring. Students who are compatible with this change will protect better job opportunities, while institutions integrating real world learning will be relevant.

The message is clear: Education alone is not enough - practical experience and industry risk are real game changer.
